Job Description
SayPro is seeking an experienced, strategic, and dynamic Newspapers Manager to oversee and manage the effective communication and strategic partnerships within our newspaper division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a multi-faceted team, managing partnerships, overseeing various operational functions, and ensuring seamless delivery of services within the newspaper and media space.
As a Newspapers Manager at SayPro, you will play a critical role in shaping communications, policy strategies, and partnerships. You will be directly responsible for managing a wide range of tasks across communications, customer relations, legal affairs, business enablement, HR, legal partnerships, information management, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and manage the overall newspapers division to ensure alignment with SayPro’s strategic goals.
  • Communication & Partnerships: Manage the SayPro Newspapers Communications Partnership, cultivating and nurturing relationships with partners, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Customer Relations: Lead the customer relations initiatives, ensuring high-quality service and engagement through effective communication channels.
  • Operational Oversight: Supervise the various sub-departments including performance management, policy strategy, organizational effectiveness, and human resources.
  • Support Services: Provide executive and council support for operations, as well as manage resources across finance, legal, and technical domains.
  • Partnership Management: Oversee and coordinate multiple partnerships in sectors including policy, strategy, housing, development, and urban planning.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze business performance, adjusting strategies and tactics to meet operational and organizational objectives.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department, focusing on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in managing partnerships, operational teams, and strategic communication within a media or newspaper environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • In-depth understanding of customer relations, business resource management, and organizational performance.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a strategic outlook.
  • Knowledge of urban development, planning, and policy implementation.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent work experience in business administration, public relations, journalism, or related fields.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams across multiple business domains such as legal affairs, HR, and information systems.
  • Knowledge of financial management and budgeting for large-scale operations.
  • Background in social development, climate change, and disaster risk management.
