Job description
A well-established private hospital based in Centurion is seeking a Hospital Billing Clerk. This position will be responsible for the Patient and Medical Billing as well as the general administration thereof.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Billing:
• Generate Invoices: The billing clerk is responsible for preparing and issuing bills for medical services provided to patients.
• Review and Verify Charges: They ensure that the charges for services, medications, and procedures are accurate by cross-referencing patient records and medical reports.
• Track Payments: They monitor patient accounts to track payments, identify overdue accounts, and take steps to ensure timely payment.
Medical Aid Billing:
• Medical Aid Claims Processing: The clerk prepares and submits claims to medical aids, ensuring all required documents, codes, and information are included.
• Follow Up on Claims: They follow up on unpaid or denied claims by contacting the insurance provider, reviewing the claim status, and resolving issues.
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
• Maintain Patient Billing Records: The billing clerk enters billing information into the hospital’s system, ensuring that records are up to date and accurate.
• Track Adjustments: They record adjustments, such as write-offs, discounts, or other changes to patient accounts.
Requirements:
• Matric
• 3 Years billing experience
• Knowledge of medical ICD-10 codes
