Job Description
Role Purpose:
Safeguard the health, well-being, and trust of every patient we serve and ensure that every compounded medication leaving our pharmacy meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficacy.
Uphold the highest quality standards by complying with regulatory requirements as set out under cGMP, PIC/s and cGMCP documents under the supervision of the Head of Production & Head of Quality.
Ensure compounded products are ready in a timely manner.
Role Responsibilities:
Medication Preparation:
Compounding non-sterile medications according to established formulas and procedures
Measure and weigh ingredients accurately, following compounding formulas and working instructions.
Inventory Management:
Assist in managing inventory levels of compounding materials, including the finished products, active pharmaceutical ingredients (API’s), excipients and consumables by doing daily cycle counts.
Perform regular inventory audits and stock replenishment activities to monitor expiration dates, ensure adequate supply levels and minimize waste.
Document and discard expired stock items.
Equipment Maintenance:
Clean, calibrate, and maintain compounding equipment and work areas in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
Report equipment failure to the Head of Production or Site Manager.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Document compounding activities accurately and maintain detailed records of all compounded medications prepared.
Ensure compliance with documentation requirements and record-keeping protocols.
Administrative Tasks:
Assist with administrative tasks related to the creation and printing of labels, formulation sheets, and stock take documents.
Assist with the labelling, picking, and packing of orders for dispatch.
Quality Assurance:
Assist in performing quality control checks on compounded medications to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts.
Good Housekeeping:
Maintain a consistently clean and organized environment in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements to ensure the safety and integrity of compounded medications.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, e.g. garbing procedure, PPE usage and operation of powder hoods.
Comply with regulatory requirements and standards governing pharmaceutical compounding practices.
Training and Education:
Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices. compounding practices.
Stay abreast of new developments, guidelines, and best practices in pharmaceutical compounding through ongoing education and professional development activities.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other departments, including quality assurance, and customer engagement, to ensure a coordinated approach to pharmaceutical compounding activities and ensuring that customer is number one.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
Active registration with the SAPC as Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant.
Experience in non-sterile manufacturing or compounding is an advantage.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Expertise in maintaining accurate records.
