Job Overview
The SayPro Engineering Assessor is responsible for evaluating, assessing, and accrediting engineering qualifications, skills, and competencies of individuals in various fields of engineering. This role involves conducting assessments based on set standards and requirements, ensuring candidates meet industry and regulatory benchmarks. The assessor works closely with training providers, industry bodies, and regulatory authorities to maintain the quality and relevance of engineering assessments within the organization. The role also includes advising on curriculum improvements, training gaps, and skill development strategies to promote professional growth in the engineering field.
Key Responsibilities
SayPro Engineering Competency Assessments:
- Conduct assessments for engineering candidates in various disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, software, etc.) based on industry standards and SayPro’s internal criteria.
SayPro Accreditation and Certification:
- Evaluate and certify candidates’ skills and knowledge to meet national and international engineering accreditation standards.
SayPro Assessment Design:
- Develop and refine assessment tools, tests, and methodologies to ensure that they align with the latest industry standards and regulations.
SayPro Evaluation of Practical Skills:
- Conduct hands-on assessments in engineering workshops, labs, or field environments to ensure candidates have the practical skills necessary for their discipline.
SayPro Review of Educational Programs:
- Collaborate with educational institutions and training providers to assess the relevance and quality of engineering programs. Recommend curriculum improvements based on assessment results.
SayPro Compliance and Standards Adherence:
- Ensure that assessments comply with all applicable industry regulations, standards, and SayPro’s internal policies.
SayPro Reporting and Feedback:
- Provide detailed reports on assessment outcomes, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement in candidate performance. Offer constructive feedback to candidates and institutions.
SayPro Quality Assurance:
- Maintain high standards in the delivery of assessments, ensuring consistency, fairness, and objectivity across all assessment activities.
SayPro Industry Trends and Best Practices:
- Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in engineering and engineering education to inform assessment practices.
SayPro Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Work with industry bodies, government agencies, and regulatory authorities to ensure that SayPro’s assessments are recognized and aligned with national and international standards.
SayPro Training and Development:
- Offer recommendations for training and development programs to address skill gaps identified during the assessment process. Participate in the development of new training modules.
SayPro Candidate Mentoring:
- Provide mentoring and guidance to candidates, assisting them in preparing for assessments and improving their engineering skills.
SayPro Data Management:
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, certification results, and related documentation in SayPro’s data management systems.
SayPro Workshop and Field Inspections:
- Visit field locations or workshops to assess practical engineering tasks, machinery use, and equipment handling.
SayPro Continuous Improvement:
- Regularly review and update assessment techniques and practices to ensure they are in line with technological advancements and educational improvements in the engineering sector.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field); a Master’s degree or higher is an advantage.
- Professional accreditation or membership with a recognized engineering body (e.g., ECSA, IEEE, etc.).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical assessment, education, or training role.
- Experience working with national or international standards bodies in the engineering sector.

- Assessment Skills: Ability to assess both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies accurately and objectively.

Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (for field assessments).
- Willingness to travel to different locations for assessments and site visits.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for remote assessments.
