Job Title: Deputy Treasurer

Job Summary:
SayPro is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Deputy Treasurer to support the Treasurer in managing the organization’s financial activities and ensuring fiscal responsibility. The Deputy Treasurer will assist in overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and supporting financial planning and reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to step into the Treasurer’s role as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Support: Assist the Treasurer in overseeing the organization’s financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow management. Ensure that financial practices are in line with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Record Keeping: Help maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. Ensure that financial documentation, such as invoices, receipts, and contracts, are properly filed and organized.
- Budget Assistance: Support the development and monitoring of the annual budget. Track expenditures and ensure that they align with the approved budget. Provide recommendations for budget adjustments when necessary.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports for the Board of Directors, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Audit Support: Aid in the coordination of the annual audit process. Work with external auditors to facilitate the audit and address any issues identified.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet operational needs. Assist in managing investments and financial assets, if applicable.
- Policy Implementation: Help implement and adhere to financial policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in financial management.
- Risk Management: Support the identification and assessment of financial risks. Assist in implementing strategies to mitigate risks and manage financial uncertainties.
- Treasurer Backup: Be prepared to step into the Treasurer’s role in their absence. Provide continuity in financial management and ensure that all responsibilities are covered.
- Financial Planning: Assist in financial planning and forecasting. Provide input on financial strategies and long-term planning efforts.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field. Experience in a non-profit or board governance role is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of accounting software and financial management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attributes:

- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Treasurer, Board of Directors, and executive leadership.
