Job Summary:
SayPro is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Chairperson to support the Chairperson in leading the Board of Directors. The Deputy Chairperson will assist in overseeing the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring effective governance, and maintaining a productive and collaborative board environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic insight, and the ability to step into the Chairperson’s role as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Chairperson: Assist the Chairperson in planning and facilitating Board meetings. Act as a primary point of contact for Board-related matters in the Chairperson’s absence.
Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with the Chairperson and Board members to support the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives. Contribute to discussions on strategic direction and organizational priorities.
Governance: Help ensure that the Board operates effectively and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Assist in the development and review of governance policies and practices.
Board Engagement: Engage with Board members to foster a collaborative and productive environment. Support the Chairperson in managing Board dynamics and addressing any issues that arise.
Executive Support: Provide support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior executives. Assist in addressing organizational challenges and strategic initiatives.
Succession Planning: Prepare to step into the Chairperson role when necessary, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of leadership.
Committee Oversight: Assist in overseeing the work of Board committees. Provide guidance and support to committee chairs and ensure alignment with Board priorities.
Stakeholder Relations: Represent the organization in interactions with key stakeholders as needed. Support the Chairperson in advocating for the organization’s interests and building strong external relationships.
Performance Monitoring: Support the evaluation of the CEO and other key executives. Assist in monitoring organizational performance and addressing performance-related issues.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
Experience: Significant experience in leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in senior management or governance positions. Experience serving on a Board of Directors is highly desirable.
