Job Summary:
SayPro is seeking an experienced and visionary Chairperson to lead our Board of Directors. The Chairperson will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring effective governance, and fostering a productive and collaborative board environment. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex organizational and regulatory landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
Board Leadership: Lead and facilitate Board meetings, ensuring that they are productive, efficient, and focused on key strategic issues. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for board discussions and decision-making.
Strategic Oversight: Work closely with the Board and Executive Leadership Team to develop and oversee the implementation of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives. Ensure that the organization is aligned with its mission and vision.
Governance: Ensure that the Board operates effectively and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Oversee the development and implementation of governance policies and practices.
Executive Support: Act as a key advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other senior executives. Provide support and guidance on strategic initiatives and organizational challenges.
Board Development: Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new Board members. Ensure that the Board has the necessary skills and expertise to fulfill its responsibilities effectively.
Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in interactions with key stakeholders, including donors, government officials, and community leaders. Advocate for the organization’s interests and build strong relationships with external partners.
Performance Monitoring: Oversee the evaluation of the CEO and other key executives. Ensure that performance metrics are established and reviewed regularly to assess organizational effectiveness.
Crisis Management: Provide leadership and support during times of crisis or significant organizational change. Ensure that the Board is prepared to address and manage potential risks and challenges.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
Experience: Extensive experience in leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in senior management or governance positions. Experience serving on a Board of Directors or in a Chairperson role is highly desirable.
