Job Title: Biodiversity Officer Manager

Location: [Midrand]

Reports To: Director of Environmental Programs

Job Summary:

The Biodiversity Officer Manager will lead efforts to monitor, protect, and enhance biodiversity within the designated areas of responsibility. This role requires a deep understanding of ecological principles, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage projects and teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee biodiversity conservation projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of biodiversity officers and field staff, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct and oversee research on local flora and fauna, including habitat assessments and species monitoring.
  • Collaboration: Work with governmental agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to advance biodiversity conservation goals.
  • Reporting: Develop and present reports on biodiversity status, project outcomes, and strategic recommendations.
  • Funding and Grants: Assist in securing funding and grants for biodiversity projects and manage grant compliance.
  • Public Engagement: Promote biodiversity awareness through educational programs, community outreach, and media campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in biodiversity conservation, including project management and team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of ecological systems, conservation strategies, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis tools.
